Welcome to 4casters Wikispace!
Are you ready to do some global warming research? I need to get as much data, from as many places as possible, all entries need to be in by the 31st of July. This Wiki is the basis for a lesson I will be conducting this coming school year. I want you to look at changing temperatures. So, we are going to enter data about yesterday's temperature, and the temperature on the same date, in 1970. We will use the data to give us an idea if temperatures are actually rising on the planet. Please enter your data in the discussion section of this website or by just editing this page. If you edit this page, and would like to see the results and have a say in the analysis of the data, leave your email address so I can send you the survey, or check back here after the 31st of July and there will be a link.

Here is the plan:
  • I need to have everyone utilize The Weather Underground. (Feel free to utilize another resource, as long as you research the same information.)
  • Once there, you first need to enter your zipcode in the upper left hand corner.
  • On this next page, scroll down to the history & almanac section along the left hand portion of the site. It is here that you will start gathering your data for me. Please find and note Yesterday's High and Low temperature. Then, alter the Detailed History and Climate so that it reads YESTERDAY'S DATE and the YEAR 1970. If you cannot find a temp for 1970, try and find one as far back as possible.
  • This is the last page to gather data. Please note the High and Low temperature from that date in history.
  • Now all you have to do is enter that data here, for everyone to see and share. This is what I need: Your name (optional), your location (city/state/zipcode), the date you are using for your data, and your data. Use the example below to guide you. Feel free to add any notes you want about how the day was (ie. humid, dry, windy, etc). If you do not wish to subscribe to wikispoaces, please edit this page like the others have below (remembering to either give me your email address, or check back so you can take the survey at the end) OR email me the information at: ro66yb (at) gmail.com

Pretty simple, right? Thank you in advance for all of your help with my project. All participants will be recieving a survey through email to summarize and analyze the data at the conclusion of the data collection.

Send this to everyone you can. If someone from the same town has already entered data for the "yesterday" that you were going to use, just pick another date, making sure to use the same date in 1970 as well.

To view the all the data collected, follow the link to the left under the Navigation heading.
